The ORC team plays a crucial role in maintaining the world's largest measurement-based handicapping system, ensuring its accessibility, functionality, relevance, and being up-to-date for the thousands of boat owners, sailors, race organizers, industry figures, and users worldwide.
The ORC Congress annually approves recommendations from various committees such as Offshore Classes & Events, Race Management, Special Regulation, Measurement, Rating Officers, and Promotion & Development, all overseen by the Management Committee.
With our experts in administration, IT support, measurement, database and VPP programming, promotion, and other technical domains, this team translates decisions made by the Congress into actionable steps.
They do this by operating in specialized groups that regularly convene within their respective areas of expertise. There are also two comprehensive staff meetings every March and December that aid the translation of Annual Meeting decisions into a functional set of rules and policies.
This process is important to ensure that the system is functional and prepared to meet the needs of our customers at the beginning of every new calendar year.
